Our Mission

Our mission is to provide a quality education through shared responsibility in a safe supportive environment for all students to meet the challenges of a global society.

We are “Committed to Excellence”, and we work hard to make the site a primary source for timely information for all users, and a main gateway for improved communication between parents, teachers, students and other members of our community. Our goal and responsibility is to help each student develop an enthusiasm for learning, a respect for self and others, and the skills to become a creative independent thinker and problem solver.

Carrie Lee Striders, Wellness, and Walk to School Day

Please encourage your child to rise to our challenge to increase the number of students meeting our goal for walking one mile a day!  We hope to blow the top off our charts!  Our staff will be having conversations as we continue to strive to increase our activities promoting wellness in our schools.  Mark your calendar for May 8 for our last “Walk to School Day.”  You may drop your student near the intersection of Broadway and Franklin Street, close to the walking path.

 Vesterheim Projects on Display

Carrie Lee fourth graders are looking forward to the culminating activity of their Pioneer Immersion Study.  The Vesterheim Museum Open House will be May 16 from 4:30-6:30 p.m.  We hope you will visit the museum and support our students as they display their work.

Step-Up Day

Students will be participating in Step-up Day on May 14. Our fourth graders have been corresponding with a fifth grade pal and will be meeting them when they go to the middle school for their orientation.

Third graders will “Step-Up” to fourth grade, while John Cline second graders come to Carrie Lee to see what third grade is like. Students will rotate through all of the current grade level classrooms to meet the teachers and learn about the highlights of the grade they are going into in the fall.

Class lists will be posted at the August registration.

 Field Day and School Picnic

Join us for our end of the year picnic and field day on May 29!  Lunch will be served starting at 11:00 a.m.,followed by our field day activities at 12:30. If you would like to eat lunch with your child, please turn in your reservation and money to the office by Wednesday, May 8.  Please contact your child’s teacher if you are able to help with the field day activities in the afternoon.  We would love to have you join us!

Vocabulary Parade

Plan to join us for the third annual Carrie Lee Vocabulary Parade on May 24 @1:30p.m.  The idea is based on the book, Miss Alaineus, A Vocabulary Disaster, by Debra Frazier.

  1. Choose an interesting word.
  2. Get creative with a homemade costume showing the meaning of your word. Include the word and its meaning ony our costume.
  3. Bring your costume to school on May 24 and participate in the Vocabulary Parade.

Check out our school website for ideas from previous years.
